Sanrio x Baby Milo Launch @ Bape Store, Mandarin Gallery!

A Bathing Ape (also known as BAPE®) might be a familiar household name in the fashion world, but do you know the significance of its origin? A Japanese label founded by Nigo (right) in 1993, he coined the name “A Bathing Ape” from the 1968 film production, “Planet of the Apes”. Interestingly enough, it also takes after the Japanese saying, “bathing in lukewarm water”.

Other than being the first Japanese streetwear label to achieve international credibility, they also boast an ever-expanding celebrity clientele, consisting of big names like Kanye West and Pharrell Williams.

The influential force that draws so much obsession is undoubtedly the psychedelic display on their designs that immediately puts you into an optimistic field, original artwork, usage of premium materials and signature camouflage patterns. On top of that, they offer an extensive variety of products, ranging from menswear, womenswear, kidswear, footwear, accessories and the occasional lifestyle merchandise to feed your kaleidoscopic needs.

What other perfect collaboration would it be if not for Sanrio, the label behind Hello Kitty and other adorable characters like My Melody, Patty and Jimmy and Little Twin Stars.

In conjunction with Sanrio’s 50th Anniversary, a collaboration between the two was first launched in Tokyo and Kyoto, igniting much anticipation from BAPE® fans worldwide.

Who can resist such cuddly cuteness with their youngest ape mascot, Baby Milo being included in the Sanrio family? Expect a plethora of exciting items for both men and women that will enliven your ensembles; it comprises of apparel, accessories, footwear, coffee mugs, wrist watches and the list goes on. ProjectDressCode attended the exclusive launch event last Saturday at Singapore’s flagship store, where Nigo flew in from Japan alongside undeniably kawaii BabyMilo and Hello Kitty mascots (left). It was no mystery that such a long line had already formed outside the store by 11am and everyone simply went hysterical meeting the mascots and Nigo in the flesh.

We have news that many items have already sold out due to its limited edition nature, but do hurry down to the flagship store at Mandarin Gallery, Level 2 as the collection will only be available from now till 30th September 2010!
