Men's Fashion Week 2011
3rd April marks the end of Men’s Fashion Week 2011, and a significant progress for Singapore in the fashion industry. Singapore is the third in the world to host this mind-blowing event, after Milan and Paris.
Throughout the 5-day event, MFW featured international brands like Hugo Boss, Canali, Raoul and Emmanuel. These brands showcased their 2011 formal wear on the runway, each depicting different styles with a refreshing touch.
What’s exciting? Regional and local designers also had a chance to strut their collections alongside these big brands! Designers from Australia, Japan, Korea, the Phillipines, Thailand and of course Singapore, put up amazing shows with their avant-garde and ready-to-wear collections.
We attended the Issue and Song for the Mute shows, and we were especially pleased with the line-up of the collections. Issue infused the Thai element into every single detail of their show, and visually brought us to Thailand for a good 15 to twenty minutes.
Song for the Mute closed the MFW show with their somber and dark collection. It brought the atmosphere to a new level of gloom with the monochromatic hues of black, white and grey.
The MFW2011 ended with an act of philanthropy. With the current crisis in Japan, MFW did not forget about charity. A pair of Tudor watches and a painting by Dou Rong Jun (Chinese Artist) were auctioned off to raise funds.
There was also a closing party – Gorgeous Decadence III and BLUSH (an all new Pan-Asian girl group). Girls, booze and music - The perfect wrap up for the men’s fashion show.
If you missed the Men’s Fashion Week 2011, do not be disappointed as the organizers promised a Women’s Fashion Week 2011 on the third quarter of this year. Right here in Singapore.
