Hide 'n' Seek Opening Party

Hide & Seek may mean nothing more than just a childhood novelty for some, but local designer Keith Png has launched this large-scaled island-wise game with other budding designers.
Staying true to such a unique concept of bearing a distinctive design aesthetic culture, the new Hide & Seek store is now located at 176 Telok Ayer Street beside Thian Hock Keng temple which is the Oldest Hokkien temple in Singapore.
The Freshest faces on the street boasts of 3 levels along with a mezzanine floor and an elevator, featuring Keith Png's own designer label KOOPS, Vice & Vanity, Cloak & Dagger, Puma designer collaboration lines and prestigious perfume label Bond No. 9. The new Hide & Seek went through an image overhaul exuding a luxurious yet quirky vibe, providing customers with an intimate yet sofisticated shopping experience.
During the opening party, we have managed to speak to Keith Png regarding his new store and personal comments on the local design scene, as well as his opinions on some local celebrities. Check out this exclusive interview below!

PDC: We are aware that you are out to "seek" the "hiding" local designers, so what do you think of the local fashion scene with so many emerging Designers now?
Keith: It is becoming really exciting now as there are a lot more platforms for local designers to showcase thier lines! There is also an increasing number of youngsters who are more daring and willing to dress up, so there is definitely a market for local designers.
PDC: Do you see a higher demand for local designer products or international brands, especially with all the new malls like ION Orchard and duplexes in the market?
Keith: Yes, definitely for local designers wares. Take example, i will purchase local designer products whenever i travel to HongKong or Japan so the market isn't just limited to the locals but tourists as well. International brands are found everywhere, even in thier own countries anyway.
PDC: Should Singapore's tropical, humid weather be an excuse for people not dressing up?
Keith: I think it is an excuse! Other countries like Japan experience hot weather during summer as well, but the Japanese still dress up extremely well by layering with thin and light clothing.
PDC: You have designed and styled for many local celebrities. Do you think they dress well and who?
Keith: Firstly, Joi Chua. I feel that she has a strong sense of direction in terms of personal style and that makes her unique. Another would be Joanne Peh as she has an ideal height and she can pull off many looks, especially with her versatile petite and slim figure.
PDC: What is the inspiration behind you designs?
Keith: Women who need a stylish wardrobe to transition from thier day jobs, dinners to parties. I also aim to design classic and timless pieces that don't just sit in you closet.
PDC: When is the third level opening? We have taken a peek and it looks really interesting!
Keith: It is only for exclusive appointments only held in a private conference room with our interior design team, who is able to customise and design according to your needs and wants. We also offer furnishing items that are made to measure!
