BMW & Amica Private Party

Ashley Isham, a homegrown fashion designer based in London, is definitely a familiar name in the fashion world. He is widely renowned for his signature draping styles and strong tailoring, dressing red carpet styles for Hollywood stars such as Christina Aguilera, Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga. Inspired by Flash Gordon, the Sci-fi comic strip published in 1934 accompanied with a film produced in 1980, Ashley Isham’s Autumn/Winter 2010 Ready-to-Wear collection clearly depicted intergalactic Glamour during the unveiling of in an event by Amica Magazine and BMW, who was launching the all-new, long-awaited BMW 5 series.

While some space-age looks are venturing into extreme territories, the stellar pieces presented in the show are surprisingly, relatively wearable. Statuesque models channeling the futuristic female urbanite were sent down the runway in sculpted silhouettes of moulded plastic complemented with metallic jacquard, sequined tweed and inherently glamourous, textured lurex.


Liquidity was introduced in draped flows of chiffon, jersey and silk tulle, embracing the epitome of feminity and the metallic accents that accentuate the dresses characterize luxe meets laissez-faire. Midnight blues, Crimson red and violets emerge amongst the bronzes, gold and gunmetal tones, imbuing the collection with a touch of mysterious sophistication and personifying the mood for the season: Womanly, strong and impeccably chic.
