Al & Alicia .03 Private Party

Bearing a concept of a private party set in a dingy, black room filled with mysterious and desirable characters, Al & Alicia launched their third collection in Old School; probably to recreate the same scene as what one would witness in New York City after dark.

Psychedelic spotlights dimmed just enough to see the sexy stranger from across the hall, delectable refreshments served in Chinese Takeaway boxes and stacked wooden display crates exuded a sense of haphazard cool...

Five strong, descriptive words rang repeatedly in our ears while reading the story of this Private Party -

Vulnerable, Sexy, Smoky, Sleek and Sassy.

It definitely churned a great deal of anticipation while waiting to enter the runway arena, not knowing how the impressive depictions would translate into a real life wardrobe.

After a heart-pounding start to the show with an interesting play of lights on faux windows, the collection saw no need to explain further because it was indeed, "unpretentiously cool". Mesh and jersey banded leggings gave a hint of sexy edge, while the white top pictured above seemed to mimic a cropped waistcoat. The dishevelled hair interestingly juxtaposed the harshness of black and white, suggesting hours spent on the dancefloor.

Other than the slouchy jacket, we especially loved how the dusty peach took a breather from the palette of femininity and actually brought out the effeminate traits from its darker counterparts. However, the design of each separate piece maintained a  "real girl" factor - transporting you into the balance of feeling comfortable, yet looking très chic.
